Sting to perform in Luxembourg on 30 June...
February 21, 2018

The Rockhal is proud to announce Sting at Open Air Belval on June 30th 2018. Following last year’s concert, the world-renowned musician is looking forward to performing at the unique site in the area. After much thought, consideration and planning, the breath-taking blast furnaces of Belval right across from the Rockhal proved to be the ideal location.

Tickets go on presale to members on Thursday, 22 February at 10am (local) and on public sale on Friday, 23 February at 10am (local)

With the first Open Air show in this unique setting, the Rockhal presents an unprecedented show in front of the iconic setting of Luxembourg’s industrial past. The performance of 16-time Grammy Award winning artist Sting is set to be a memorable evening under the stars of Belval and a cultural event not to miss this summer.

The Rockhal wishes to thank the Ville d’Esch, Fonds Belval as well as Agora and all local authorities for supporting this project.

Following a sold out show on April 1st 2017, Sting will return to Luxembourg to perform both his classic hits as well as songs from his forthcoming, island-influenced collaborative album with reggae star, Shaggy, entitled 44/876.

Composer, singer-songwriter, actor, author, and activist Sting was born in Newcastle, England before moving to London in 1977 to form The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. As one of the world’s most distinctive artists, Sting has received 16 Grammy Awards, two Brits, a Golden Globe, an Emmy, four Oscar nominations and a TONY nomination. Throughout his illustrious career, he has sold close to 100 million albums from his combined work with The Police and as a solo artist.

Following Sting’s most recent, critically-acclaimed album, 57th & 9th, his first rock/pop collection in over a decade, Sting and Shaggy will release a collaborative, island-influenced album on April 20 entitled 44/876, that reflects the duo’s mutual love of Jamaica – its music, the spirit of its people and the vibrancy of its culture. The first Caribbean-flavored single, “Don’t Make Me Wait,” is available now on all digital platforms, accompanied by a music video filmed in Kingston, Jamaica, directed by Gil Green (Drake, Nicki Minaj, etc).

Sting’s support for human rights organizations such as the Rainforest Fund, Amnesty International, and Live Aid mirrors his art in its universal outreach.  Along with wife Trudie Styler, Sting founded the Rainforest Fund in 1989. Since its inception, the Rainforest Fund has expanded to a network of interconnected organizations working in more than 20 countries over three continents.
